Gumball Candy Dish

This is a Gumball candy dish made out of a terra cotta pot and a glass bowl. I simply painted the pot and the terra cotta saucer with 2 coats of acrylic red paint. I purchased the glass bowl at the dollar store and glued it on the pot using E6000 glue. I then glued a bead on the top of the painted saucer. I used washi tape around he base of the pot and added a pretty white bow. This one is going in my office at work. These are a very quick, easy and inexpensive gift to make for anyone.

Big Blog Nomination Tour

Big Blog Nomination Tour

I was nominated as a creative blogger by Lorrie Simons at Pickled Tink Crafts http://pickledtinkcrafts.blogspot.com/ Lorrie is a fellow design team member at
Scrap n' Art magazine and is so creative. Her style is eclectic and she enjoys doing digital scrapbook pages! If you did not come here via her blog, please go visit her and check out all her wonderful creations!!

We are joining up as a chain of fun blog hop tours where so many of us will get to meet new bloggers, get new inspiration and connect with blogs that will open up our creativity. This hop is sure to get your mojo going!

Here are my 4 questions that need to be answered before I pass along my nominations. I'll give you my answers then lead you to some amazing artists you will love visiting!

1. What am I working on?
I am now a designer for Scrap n' Art magazine.  I am super excited to be working on projects for them. I cannot post anything just yet. I did finish up a bridal gift for my friend Emily today.  I used a burlap mat and used Thickers to make this "Established" gift. It was super easy and I think it came out great.

2. How does my work differ from others in its genre?
My style is very all over the place and is always different. My style is like my love of music. I like all genres from Country to Pop and even Jazz. I enjoy many different hobbies, from jewelry making to  mixed media and scrapbooking/card making. I can even sew and crochet.

3. Why do I write/create what I do?
I have been creating things for as long as I can remember. One of my oldest memories is of making my own Barbie clothes from hand. I also used to make things into Barbie furniture. I create because it make me happy!

 4. How does your writing/creating process work?
I usually get an idea in my head from something that I have seen. I think to myself "I can make something like that". The only problem I have is once this picture gets stuck in my head there is no substitutions. Sometimes it takes me weeks just to find the right ribbon or buttons to use!

I am very new to blogging and do not have many blogging friends. So I will nominate -

The most talented creative person I know Kristie Taylor at http://kristietaylor.blogspot.com/ .You will love everything she has on her blog. She is a true artist.  I would also like to nominate Kathy Adams. Kathy loves color and has some really amazing projects on her blog http://kathyadamsmixedupart.blogspot.com/  Go check them out!

Happiness is...

Here is a mini canvas I made using a stencil and Art Anthology spays. I love using Art Anthology sprays they are so easy to use and the colors are so vibrant.
The quote is a vellum quote that I inked  edges. The flower embellishments are from Close to my Heart.
The frame and butterfly are cut from a Spellbinder die cut. I layered two of the butterflies so it would POP off the page. Enjoy!

Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons

am the guest designer this week for Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons. You have got to check out their site. They have awesome cutting files prettypapergraphics.blogspot.com

This card was so fun to make. I ran the card through a Darice embossing folder first and then placed washi tape at the bottom of the card. Then I pieced the whale together and adhered to the card. Isn't he just too cute!

This is a page I made also using Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons cutting files. For the page I used a blue piece of cardstock and sprayed it with Blue Glimmer Mist. I dipped my fingers in water and let the water drip from my fingers to make water drops.
After I cut out the images I inked the edges with brown ink to give them more depth.

By inking the edges it really makes the images POP!

Friend card

I just love making tags. They are so quick and easy to make. Here is a tag I made and attached it to a card.
I started the tag by inking it with alcohol inks and blending it all together. I then added a ripped page from a dictionary to the bottom of the tag. I inked the edges and embossed the saying on the tag. As a final touch, I added a coordinating flower with a brad center.

For the card, I used a piece of cream card stock and inked it with alcohol ink similar to the tag. I added 2 strips of printed paper and inked the edges.

Family canvas

This is a family canvas I made for my friend Donna. I used a white canvas and Tim Holz alcohol inks. I simply dropped the inks on the canvas and let them spread or drip. It made the coolest designs.
I added a clear quote to a piece of scalloped chipboard that I inked to match the colors of the canvas.
I placed ribbon along the bottom and added coordinating flowers. I then placed
vintage buttons on the canvas.
I placed the the picture off center so I filled up the empty space with an inked chipboard swirl.

2 of a kind

This is my Two of a Kind Page. This is one of my favorite pictures of my kids.
I used a stencil of chicken wire and sprayed the upper right hand corner of the page. I think it really
off sets the page.
I then used silver paint and painted behind where the picture will be placed. I then matted the picture on a torn edge matted and  inked it in black.
Before I adhered the picture, I used different washi tape on the page and placed the matted picture on top of it. I cut out some Spellbinder swirls and added the flowers at both corners.
I used Thickers to write out my "Two of a Kind"

I took some fibers & lace and wrapped it around the card.
I  then took a wire ring and used letters to spell out the baby's name Aiden.

I just love this color combination. It is rose and lime green. I used a stencil template to cut out the bracket edge of the card and stamped it with rose colored ink. Then added a piece of  rose and green patterned paper. I added green ribbon going across the bottom and added rick rack on top.
I finished it off by taking a lime green piece of card stock and running it through and embossing folder for texture. I then added the flower with a pearl center.

Map card

I love recycling things into my crafting. This card is used by using a piece of a map that I had laying around. The other part of the card at the top left hand side is a page torn out of a dictionary. I just pieced them together and inked in each corner. Stamped the man on the bike. Then stamped the wording on a hand torn page of the dictionary.
And for the final touched added washi tape with wording and a flower with a button for the center.

Sunshine Canvas

This is a canvas I made using Art Anthology sprays and dimensional paints. These paints are so fun and versatile to work with!

I first used a stencil and spritzed the Art Anthology coloration spray. Then I painted the grass with a wide brush and spread some lighter yellow behind the flower. I painted petals on the canvas and painted the fabric flower to give it more color and dimension.  I adhered the flower to the canvas and added a vintage button to the center.
The letters are made from grunge board and spritzed with the Art Anthology coloration spray.
The leaves and stem are made from ribbon.

The final touch is the lady bugs! The lady bugs are buttons.

Masking card

This is a card that I made using a masking type tape. It is a tape that is somewhat sticky but you can use it over and over. So I took a piece of the tape and tore it in half. I then placed one piece at the top and another piece half way down the card. I picked 3 different colors and inked in between the masking tape blending the colors slightly as they meet.

I then took off the tape and stamped the wisps.  I then stamped the flower and the saying. The inks and stamps are Close to my Heart.

Rose Spellbinder card

Here is another card made from Spellbinder dies. Spellbinders dies are so versatile. Just cut them out and layer them and they make a beautiful card.

For this card I used a rose colored card stock and inked the edges of the large frame (which is the first layer) I then inked the rest of the cut out dies with a coordinating ink. (Close to My Heart). I used pop dots to raise the center and added some dew drops. To finish it off I added an organza bow.

You are my Sunshine

Have I told you that I love flowers? This was such an easy card. First I picked 3 different shades of yellow. I then tore them in half and adhered them to the card from dark to light.

Then I cut out 2 flowers with a Spellbinder die. I folded the flowers in half and glued them to the card. I stamped "You are my sunshine" and the flower stems (from Close to my Heart) To top off the card and add dimension I added a dew drop to each flower.

Real friends

Here is another card I made using scraps of paper I had. I first came across the blue and brown lined paper and then found the patterned paper. I only had a small stripe of the lined paper so I placed that on the bottom with the patterned paper on the top. I then added the flower in the center.
It did take me a few minutes to find the sticker that ties it all together. You could also used a coordinating piece of ribbon to bring the bottom and top together.

Under the weather

I made this card using scraps of left over paper. I know everyone's scrap paper container can get overwhelming at times. Every so often I will challenge myself to make some cards just using my scraps.
I start by picking out a patterned paper and find one or two coordinating papers. I used a Darice embossing folder for the pink paper to add texture. I then stamped and colored the umbrella in coordinating colors.

Delight card

I just love the elegance of this card!. I first inked the edges with a light blue and light brown ink. I used a shiny foil type paper and used a Spellbinder die. This is actually 2 different dies that are placed together.

I then used another Spellbinders die to make the flowers. I inked them in blue and placed a brad in the center. The Delight stamp is from Close to My Heart.

Connor baby page

I just LOVE scrap booking baby pictures! For this page I used Teal blue and a light brown as the "theme"
I used a stencil and Glimmer mist on the page first.
I double matted the picture using a torn edge for the bottom mat and inked around the edges. I then used coordinating Thickers to spell out his name. And used ribbon and paper to make the lines ad banner.
Even though Connor is a boy I still used flowers. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE flowers I think the blue flowers with the wooden buttons makes it more masculine.

Journey card

I love Heartfelt Creation stamps! They are so versatile. For this card I used a Darice embossing folder for the white backdrop. I stamped the heart and the key with a coordinating ink from Close to My Heart. I then used 2 large flowers as a base to make the card "POP" the image  and added a ribbon to the side to give added texture. I topped it off by adding stickles to the key hole, outline the key and a couple of dots on the embossed backdrop.

I really love flowers. They are can go on any project you are working on to add "POP"

Tea cup card

Hello ya'll. I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Here is another card make with spellbinder die cuts. Since spring is just around the corner, I decided to use pastel colors.
I used colored pencils to color in the flowers and teacup and then worked it in with gamisol. I love the soft blended look that it gives.

Masculine cards

Sometimes it is a little harder to make a masculine card. I like to start by choosing a masculine stamp, like this truck stamp by Tim Holtz. I then picked a masculine embossing folder by Tim Holtz. That was enough to get my creative juices going.
This card is layered in 2 different colors and textures. Then an embossed tag. I then layered a scrap piece of sewing pattern paper just to offset the stamp o the truck.
This card has two layered pieces of card stock. I inked the bottom layer and added a piece of ric rac to offset the layers. I embossed the tag and inked it. I used a torn piece of dictionary page to backdrop the stamp.

This is a canvas I made for my grandson Jace. I used stencils for the chevron background. The giraffe was a file I cut from my Pazzles cutting machine. I always try to add different elements to give the look of different texture. The strip on the right hand side is matted paper on burlap with a rick rack strip.

The name is made out of chip board letters covered with paper. I then inked on the edges to give definition.

The giraffe was cut with my Pazzles cutting machine. I purchased the file from MyScrapChick.com.
